Flurry of lettings further lift leisure and retail offering at Chapel Walk in the CrownGate Shopping Centre, Worcester

Bill’s has taken a new 15 year lease on the former 3,042 sq ft Entertainer unit in Chapel Walk, which opened in the Spring of this year. Bill’s now forms part of an impressive leisure line-up that includes Carluccios, Coffee Dough and The Huntingdon Hall Theatre.

On opening of the unit, Bill’s founder Bill Collison commented “I’m really excited about opening a Bill’s in Worcester, the restaurant is on a busy thoroughfare at Chapel Walk with plenty of seating inside and a nice sunny outdoor seating area too and I’m hoping the restaurant will be a real hit with the locals. The vision for the future development of Chapel Walk is really exciting to be part of".

JoJo Maman Bébé the UK’s leading boutique mother and baby retailer is set to open in the former Game store at Crown Gate, Worcester. The new 1,800 sq ft store will be located directly opposite House of Fraser, Debenhams & Boots within the scheme, but also close to new entrant Bill’s Restaurant & the very successful Carluccio’s.

As a British brand, launched and still managed by the founding team, JoJo offers discerning mums-to-be and parents everything they need for their pregnancy, new baby or child. The maternity collection is stylish yet affordable, the baby and children’s clothing adorable whilst practical, and the nursery products, gifts and toys will ensure that JoJo is a one-stop-shop in Worcester. The company was launched in Wales 21 years ago and has now grown to over 60 stores across the UK, as well as trade sales to 70 countries across the world.

Laura Tenison MBE, Founder and Managing Director of JoJo explains “The opportunity to open a JoJo Maman Bébé store within the Crowngate scheme in the heart of Worcester suited our purposes considering the demand received from our local mail order customer base. The neighbouring stores are brands our mums and dads like to shop at, and we are really pleased to add our name to the great list of retailers already there. As well as strong national retailers, including House of Fraser, the scheme includes some eclectic independents such as Fat Lip and Little Puds & Halo.

As an independent retailer which has now grown, we try to find store locations which offer both national and independent stores sitting side by side. In addition, our search for the perfect spot includes ensuring our customers (who may have travelled to find us) have some good options for refreshment. With Carluccio’s, Bill’s Restaurant and the new Coffee Dough store all nearby there are some great places for a little R and R between the important business of shopping.”

Further retail lettings have also been agreed with Halo Style ladieswear and Little Puds childrenswear and accessories in the Unicorn Walk area of the scheme. Halo and Little Puds have relocated from other areas of the City Centre and represent some of the best in class operators present in Worcester’s healthy independent retail scene.

Daniel Mead from Asset Manager, Queensberry Real Estate, commented: “To have secured all four operators in the last few months represents a strong message that the CrownGate team is delivering its vision of attracting aspiring national operators and the cream of the crop of local and regional independent retailers. This will assist us in taking the vision to the next level and to attract further exciting names to Chapel Walk.”

The CrownGate Shopping Centre, Worcester spans 280,000 sq ft across Chapel Walk and Friary Walk and is the dominant retail destinations in Worcester. Chapel Walk is anchored by House of Fraser, Debenhams and Primark.
