QUEENSBERRY REAL ESTATE SUPPORTS NEWPORT HALF MARATHON 2015

Queensberry Real Estate (QRE) the company developing the new Friars Walk shopping and leisure destination in Newport city centre has announced its support for the 3rd Newport Half Marathon.

QRE will be providing the post race goody bags to all those who complete the 13.1 miles on 1st March.  QRE will also be entering a team with its Commercial Director Stuart Harris travelling from London to race this event.  Also running from Queensberry will be Martin Tresidder the company’s senior Development Manager and Victoria Holloway, Marketing and PR Manager for QRE.

Stuart Harris said; ‘Queensberry Real Estate are delighted to support this growing event and in particular St David’s Hospice.   We are developing Friars Walk in the heart of the city centre and we couldn’t miss this opportunity to celebrate and participate in such a great city event.’

‘Next year runners and supporters will be able to enjoy some post race refreshments in Usk Plaza, the leisure section of Friars Walk. I want to wish everyone the very best of luck for this challenging distance and hope that it is a great success’.

Christine Vorres, Event Manager for St David’s Hospice said: ‘This is the third annual Admiral City of Newport Half Marathon, and a big change this year is moving the start to the city centre. With Queensberry Real Estate so active in the city centre it is wonderful that they are entering a team. We are also very grateful for their generous support, the runners will love their well-earned goody bags. The success of this race as a fundraising venture and as a great experience for the participants is very much dependent on the kindness of companies such as Queensberry Real Estate. We are thrilled to have them on board.’

Friars walk will offer over 390,000 sq ft (36,230 sqm) of retail and leisure space which includes a full offer Debenhams department store, an 8 screen Cineworld cinema, a wide range of shops such as Next, Top Shop, H&M and  River Island and restaurants including Las Iguanas, Le Bistrot Pierre, Nandos, Cosmo, Frankie and Benny’s, all supported by a new 350 space modern car park and bus station. Construction work is now entering advanced stages and the new centre will open November 2015.
